No phrase more aptly describes the musicians that exit the portals of the Marr Piano Studio.
Located in San Jose, the Marr Piano Studio is run by Marilyn S. Marr a highly accomplished classical musician, music director at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, San Jose, and skilled music teacher. Marilyn's forte is teaching classical music and all associated musical performance techniques. She has had an illustrious musical education, is an active member of the Music Teacher's Association' of California by which she is certified in piano, organ and voice. She is also a member of the ‘National Guild of Piano Teachers’ and ‘The American Guild of Organists’.
Marilyn is ably assisted at her studio by her team of music teachers all of whom are innately talented musicians, expert music tutors and share a driving passion for music. Oliver Marr, with a Master's degree in Music from San Jose University teaches piano and trombone. Kelley Hesterberg, Victoria Xu and Stephen Trisno are pianists of repute in their own right and accomplished piano teachers.
The Marr Piano Studio imparts professional piano lessons to residents of the California Bay Area at all levels, from piano lessons for children to adult piano instruction. Instruction includes musical theory, musical history, musical styles, ear training, sight reading ensemble work and more. Piano lessons start from the very basics like learning to play the piano, right to the pinnacle of advanced piano studies. As part of their music education, students are actively encouraged to give piano recitals and prepared by the studio for such milestone events.
The studio customizes music teaching with private piano lessons to group instruction in piano/keyboard programs. Students are expected to put in adequate practice sessions on their own.

The Studio trains students for the ‘MTAC Certificate of Merit’ program, Paths ‘A’ and ‘B’. Ms. Marr herself teaches improvisation, advanced theory and ensembles along with upper end classical music and performance techniques.
The studio boasts of a number of potential musical prodigies and achievers that have won many awards. These talented musicians of tomorrow can be viewed on its gallery.
In November registrations are in progress for the MTAC Certificate of Merit program scheduled for March. This year about 40 students will be participating. Several Marr Piano Studio students will also be completing their curriculum at level 10, some of whom will receive Senior Medallions.
St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, San Jose will be the venue of the Annual Holiday recitals to he held on December 12th. Students of all grades from beginners to advanced will participate. While the theme will be classical essentially, Christmas music, popular selections, show tunes and improvisations will be a significant part of the repertoire. Some of Marr's advanced students will play the new Allan organ recently installed in the sanctuary. At the end of each recital, trophies and certificates will be awarded to MTAC participants.
This years Christmas Cantata will be held on December 20th, at the same venue. The function will see the full choir, instruments, bell choir and children's choir in attendance and will be accompanied with a live narration. Services will be at 8:15 am, 9:45 am and 11:15 am. All are invited.
